When mixing EPEC with other materials
EPEC products, including all curriculum and distance learning formats are stand-alone products. Most have knowledge assessment tools as well as trainer notes, slides and video clips in addition to the curricular materials. The EPEC Program encourages liberal use of all of these with appropriate acknowledgement. When other materials are used alongside EPEC products (e.g., for the purpose of further enhancing their usefulness), and content as well as the context of the material is added, the EPEC Program should be notified and may ask to review the combined materials to insure consistency with EPEC standards.
Example: Insertion of material from other sources that enhances and does not alter significantly the intellectual content such as background materials and locally relevant examples or cartoons. These do not require review by EPEC.
Other situations where notification and review is expected include: educational formats, including conferences, where another curriculum and EPEC are mixed; and research projects that incorporate evaluations based upon EPEC materials.
EPEC review process: The intent when reviewing materials mingled with EPEC products is to insure accuracy and high quality of any final product that may be associated with EPEC. Regardless of whether questions arise regarding the appropriateness for use of any mingled materials, EPEC will notify the referring agency. The referring agency should contact EPEC if a response has not been received
