EPEC for Veterans
The EPEC for Veterans Project has adapted the EPEC Curriculum, adding new content for the specific needs of veterans and their families. This curriculum was written and adapted by members of the Veterans Affairs (VA) System and the EPEC team.  In addition, this curriculum was disseminated to members of all 21 VISNs in September 2010, and the Train the Trainer module will allowed continued distribution of training throughout settings where veterans receive care.

The EPEC for Veterans Project has also undertaken a Spanish translation of the curriculum and developed new trigger videos that feature interviews with veterans and their families.

This project is funded by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and it is directed by F. Amos Bailey, MD, of the Birmingham Veteran Affairs Medical Center and the University of Alabama, and Joshua Hauser, MD, of EPEC and Northwestern University.

VA participants engage in a role play designed to simulate breaking bad news to a patient at the August 2007 ‘Become an EPEC Trainer’ Conference in Puerto Rico.
